Little Step No. 5

Step No.5

A little thank you…

…from me to you

After a few weeks of being on hold, Little Steps is back.  And in this first Little Step of 2021 I simply wanted to say thank you, I am very grateful to have you here.

Things I love: quotes, hand-drawn illustrations and hand-written notes sent in the post.  And I don’t know about you, but with so much of our lives now spent having ‘virtual’ interactions, I have found myself appreciating the ‘realness’ of things like this all the more. For me, there’s something about receiving a hand-written note in the post that a text or email could never match.

So, as a little thank you for being here, I’ll be popping along to the post box to send out a printed version of this beautiful postcard featured at the end of this post, specially designed by Briony Machin at Cedar Farm. If you would like to receive one, simply send me an email with your postal address and I’ll sort the rest.*

I have found mindfulness to be a useful habit to nurture, especially for helping to settle worries and support a sense of peace and calm in the current climate.  This quote is a lovely one to stick on the fridge as a gentle reminder to bring your attention back to the here and now.  Even something as simple as focusing on your breath for a few seconds is worthwhile.

If you’d like to learn more about mindfulness, the Headspace app or the book Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World by Mark Williams & Danny Penman are both great places to start.  There's even a great new Headspace series on Netflix too.

Next week, we’ll be back on with the usual format for our nutritious little steps, and I’ll be sharing a very simple recipe you can make to support your gut health.
