Little Step No. 1
What to do
“Sit down and read this”
Why this step works
I’ve been meaning to send out a newsletter for ages. But there’s always been some reason why it wasn’t the right time; it wasn’t quite perfect enough, I wasn’t ready for it; you know how it goes. But today I wrote it and pressed send. After many years of aiming for perfection I realised that if you wait for things to be perfect, it’ll never happen.
Instead I’ve learnt that the most important action you can take towards any goal is just to do something; no matter how small. Any step is miles better than no step at all. Done is better than perfect. And in fact, it turns out the small steps are actually way more powerful than you’d think. Once you take action and change something, it seems the ‘I can change things’ switch in your brain gets turned on. Positive change breeds positive change and those little steps soon add up, snowballing faster and faster down the hill. Before you know it, you’ve dramatically changed your health, for good.
So this first step; to sit down and read this is simply designed to encourage you to pause and acknowledge the power of doing something. Take this moment to check in with yourself and decide if you’re ready to take some steps to improve your health. I guess if you’ve got this far, you probably are.
We’re living in uncertain times and now more than ever I believe it’s important that we all make some changes to support our health. Any teeny tiny step forward will do. And in this pause, in this moment, know that these steps don’t have to be all-encompassing, complete kitchen makeover-level or planned-to-perfection, quite the opposite, they just have to be there.
I pressed send and you sat down to read this. Little Step No 1 completed. Big tick.
